Lone Star Park

Lone Star Park: Salisbury will saddle contenders in two turf races

Mary Rampellini|Jun 21, 2012

Trainer Joyce Salisbury has a chance to sweep the two best races on the card Saturday at Lone Star Park. She has the potential favorites in both the featured ninth race, a first-level allowance at a mile on turf in which she will saddle C’Em Blazin, and the fifth, an optional $30,000 claimer for fillies and mares at five furlongs on turf for which she has Wheeling Wini.

C’Em Blazin has made three starts over the Lone Star turf this meet and has never finished worse than third, with his best finish coming in his last start June 2. He rallied from sixth to miss by a neck, finishing second to Cougar Hollow, who is now being considered for next month’s $50,000 Assault at Lone Star.

As for C’Em Blazin, he might again get a stalking trip, perhaps behind such rivals as Fly the Red Eye, Johnny Whip, and Jump in Line. Jose Medina has the mount on C’Em Blazin, who races for Steven D. Caldwell.

Wheeling Wini won a second-level allowance at five furlongs on turf at Lone Star in her last start May 24. She rallied from last and could again get a favorable pace setup as there are a handful of front-runners in the field. Gerardo Mora has the mount on Wheeling Wini, who is in for the $30,000 claiming option. She races for Richard and Karen Boyer.

Others in the field include Naevus Girl, who is seeking her third win at the meet; Exchanted, a comebacking stakes winner; and Queen Maria, who faced males last out in a Will Rogers Downs allowance that has since produced a stakes winner at Arapahoe Park.
