Lone Star Park sale offers 135 juveniles
An auction of 2-year-olds in training will be held next Wednesday at Lone Star Park near Dallas. The sale, sponsored by the Texas Thoroughbred Association, has a catalog of 135 young prospects. The under-tack show is scheduled for Sunday.
The catalog includes 2-year-olds by Tapizar, the sire of champion Monomoy Girl. Also represented are Congaree, Constitution, Fast Anna, Goldencents, Intimidator, Jersey Town, Kitten’s Joy, Lea, Midshipman, Mr. Besilu, Malibu Moon, My Golden Song, Palace Malice, Shanghai Bobby, Tiznow, and Uncle Mo.
“Our consignors have really stepped up again this year and continue to bring better-quality 2-year-olds, and I think the list of stallions in this catalog really proves that,” Tim Boyce, the sales director, said in a press release.
Consignors include Asmussen Horse Center, Benchmark Training Center, and Twin Oaks Training Centers.
Lone Star opens its meet April 18.

◗ Steve Asmussen won the Sam Houston training title for the 11th time. The meet ended Saturday.
His first title at Sam Houston came in 2000.
Asmussen won 41 races at Sam Houston in 2019, including the meet’s centerpiece, the Grade 3 Houston Ladies Classic, with Midnight Bisou. Asmussen also was the leading owner at Sam Houston.
Deshawn Parker won his second Sam Houston riding title with 48 wins. He told Sam Houston publicity he will be based next at Indiana Grand.
Sam Houston opens a Quarter Horse meet April 12.
