Lone Star Park: Lasting Bubbles back on dirt for Friday allowance

Mary Rampellini|Jun 05, 2013

Lasting Bubbles will return to Lone Star Park’s main track, where she is 2 for 2, in Friday night’s fourth race. The second-level allowance race for fillies and mares will be run at six furlongs. The race has a field of six, including 13-time winner Miss Oops.

Lasting Bubbles made a rare turf appearance last month at Lone Star in the $50,000 Lane’s End Stallion Scholarship Stakes, a 7 1/2-furlong race in which she missed by a nose. She found herself farther off the pace than usual after she did not break sharply.

One start prior, Lasting Bubbles was prominent throughout to win the $50,000 JEH Stallion Station Stakes at 6 1/2 furlongs at Lone Star. Her other win over the local main track came against $15,000 maiden claimers last June.

Lindey Wade has the mount for Judy Peek and trainer Kevin Peek.

◗ Trainer J.R. Caldwell and jockey Alfredo Contreras will be the guests during Lone Star’s free event Saturday morning. The event, which features a barn tour and viewing of morning workouts, is on the track apron and begins at 8:30. There is a complimentary breakfast. Lone Star plans to offer the program with different guests every Saturday through the close of the season in July.
