Lone Star Park near Dallas has moved its two richest races at its Thoroughbred meet to Sundays. Lone Star will race 50 days from April 20 through July 30. The Grade 3, $200,000 Texas Mile last year was run on a Friday night card and will now be held on Sunday, May 7. The Grade 3, $200,000 Lone Star Park Handicap last year was run on the traditional Memorial Day card and will instead go on Sunday, May 28. Unlock access with DRF Plus. The Texas Mile and Lone Star Park Handicap are both for 3-year-olds and up, with the handicap to be run over 1 1/16 miles. The races anchor a schedule of 11 stakes to be run during the meet. The schedule is similar to 2016. Another meet highlight is the Stars of Texas Day program July 22, when four restricted stakes worth $300,000 in total spotlight horses with ties to the Lone Star State. There will be two divisions of the $100,000 Texas Thoroughbred Futurity for 2-year-olds that day, while the main event for older horses is the $50,000 Assault.
