Lone Star: Maidens now stakes winners

Maileys Cat and Namesake each won their maiden races in stakes Saturday at Lone Star Park, taking divisions of the Texas Thoroughbred Association Sales Futurity.

Maileys Cat ($5.80) got up for a half-length win over Valid Lilly in the $93,530 fillies division while Namesake ($7) was a 3 3/4-length winner over favorite Kinetic Motion in the $95,130 colts and geldings division.

Maileys Cat, ridden by Ramsey Zimmerman for trainer Bret Calhoun, covered the five furlongs in 58.35 seconds. Namesake, ridden by Jamie Theriot for trainer Steve Asmussen went the distance in 57.93 seconds.
