Lone Star: 'Indeed' a stakes winner

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - Petionville Indeed ($46) won the $100,000 Walmac Lone Star Oaks by four lengths at Lone Star Park. Tiv's Little Sister won a photo for second, finishing a neck in front of 6-5 favorite Formal Miss.

Petionville Indeed, winner of her maiden in her last start, settled in fourth early in the 1 1/16-mile turf race for 3-year-old fillies, several lengths behind dueling leaders Heart of the Cat and Sea Bloom.

Those two set set sharp fractions of 23.62 seconds for the opening quarter-mile and 46.60 for a half-mile. Petionville Indeed advanced on the final turn, overtook Sea Bloom entering the stretch, and went on to cover the distance over firm turf in 1:43.88.

"They were going awful quick up front," said Terry Stanton, who rode Petionville Indeed for trainer Dallas Keen. "She finished full of run."
