Lone Star has 15,000 seat queries

Lone Star Park near Dallas has received requests for more than 15,000 seats for the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships, two weeks after applications were made available. The championship series will be held on Oct. 30. Seat prices range from $25 to $125. Requests must be submitted by June 4 for a drawing to determine the processing order.

Lone Star is making a number of renovations in preparation for the Breeders' Cup. The steel framework for a 10,000-square-foot banquet hall on the second floor of the grandstand is in place, and work to expand the paddock is under way to allow 14 horses to circle in front of the public instead of the usual 12.In the next few weeks, Lone Star will begin adding 1,600 permanent box seats to the apron, as well as more than 38,000 temporary seats.
