Lone Sailor, Dr. Dorr square off in optional-claiming feature

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Lone Sailor will be making a meaningful distance move Sunday, when he meets fellow graded stakes winner Dr. Dorr in the featured ninth race at Oaklawn Park.
The optional $75,000 claiming route over 1 1/16 miles has drawn a full field of 12. Other stakes winners in the race include Guest Suite, Two Thirty Five, Shang, and Tone Broke.
The card Sunday comprises 10 races and drew 115 horses. Post for the first race is 1 p.m. Central.
Lone Sailor is shortening up from 1 1/8 miles on Sunday, and the last time he raced at this distance he was an allowance winner Jan. 31 at Oaklawn. Lone Sailor caught Bruder Bob by a neck and the next day winning trainer Tom Amoss was quick to laud the ride by jockey Joe Talamo.
“He’s a strong finisher on a horse,” Amoss said, adding Talamo was the “difference-maker” in the race at Oaklawn.
Talamo again has the mount on Sunday from post 11.
