Loiselle signs off after calling Galina Point's win in Lady Angela

Michael Burns Galina Point gets up by a head over River Maid in the Lady Angela.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario—“And that’s that” is how Woodbine’s longtime announcer, Dan Loiselle, wrapped up his final race call in Sunday’s $125,400 Lady Angela Stakes.

Galina Point got up in time to prevail by a head over River Maid in the seven-furlong event, but all ears were on the retiring Loiselle, who decided not to use his patented phrase “picture time,” and just called the winner.

Even-money favorite Pohdi Pohdi dueled with Classyshadesofgrey through honest fractions, before they were overtaken early in the stretch by River Maid. Galina Point rallied four-wide into contention on the turn under Alan Garcia, and then wore down River Maid in the final furlong to score in a time of 1:23.35.

Pohdi Pohdi finished another 1 1/2 lengths back in third in the nine-horse field of Ontario-sired 3-year-old fillies.

Galina Point ($9.90) figures to make her next start June 14 in the $500,000 Woodbine Oaks, which her connections—owner Gary Barber and trainer Mark Casse—won last year with Lexie Lou.
