Logical Myth takes Bradley, his second stakes of the Fair Grounds meet

Logical Myth, Bradley
Hodges Photography Logical Myth takes the shortest way home under Adam Beschizza to win the Col. E.R. Bradley.

Logical Myth was a middling mid-level claimer when JPS Racing and trainer Joe Sharp claimed him for $40,000 this past May. Sharp immediately added blinkers for Logical Myth’s race-day equipment and – voila – new horse.

Logical Myth won a rich Kentucky Downs allowance race in September and really has come to hand at Fair Grounds. He captured his second stakes of the meet when he won the Grade 3, $125,000 Colonel E.R. Bradley by 2 1/4 lengths on Saturday.

Logical Myth, as he did in winning the Buddy Diliberto Memorial last month, got a dream trip under Adam Beschizza, who broke from post 1 and never left the rail until the race had been won. Big Agenda surprisingly set sail for the lead, outrunning the on-paper speed horses Spectacular Gem and Sailing Solo to set splits of 23.59, 48.17, and 1:12.29. Beschizza tucked Logical Myth right behind the leaders and when Big Agenda drifted off the rail after turning for home, Logical Myth ran up to fill the gap. As the horses outside him raced somewhat erratically, scrapping for minor awards, Logical Myth moved smoothly to the wire, making the most of his good fortune, winning in the clear.

Logical Myth ran 1 1/16 miles on a firm turf course in a snappy 1:42.13 and paid $8 as the second choice as 2-1 favorite Spectacular Gem lost the tightest of photos to Big Agenda. Peace Achieved and Sailing Solo dead-heated for fourth and were followed home by Vettori Kin, Split the Wickets, My Boy Jack, and Maraud. Captivating Moon and Mr. Misunderstood were scratched.

Logical Myth and Big Agenda both are by the modest sire Data Link, whose most successful progeny are those two horses. Bred in Kentucky by Mr. and Mrs. Bertram Firestone, Logical Myth is out of the Flatter mare, Undo, whose three foals to race also include the stakes-winner Crystalle.
