Locust Grove top three could meet again in Spinster

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Romantic Vision, Blue Prize, and Tiger Moth – the one-two-three finishers in the Grade 3 Locust Grove last weekend at Churchill – could reconvene in the Oct. 8 Spinster Stakes at Keeneland, but otherwise that Grade 1 race is currently lacking in top prospects.
With the Breeders’ Cup being held at Del Mar in California this year, Keeneland racing officials aren’t expecting many West Coast horsemen to ship back and forth when they can stay at Santa Anita. And with the Sept. 30 Beldame at Belmont a primary option for East Coast fillies and mares, the Spinster field seems a bit wanting.
Big World, winner of the Grade 1 La Troienne in May, is a Spinster possibility after returning last week to the Churchill work tab. Forever Unbridled, the top locally based filly or mare, will train up to the Nov. 3 BC Distaff, according to trainer Dallas Stewart.
