Lobo says he's in Kentucky to stay
LEXINGTON, Ky. – When Paulo Lobo sent out Holly Blame to win a maiden-claiming race here Sunday, the filly became the trainer’s second winner in Kentucky. His first: Farda Amiga in the 2002 Kentucky Oaks.
“This was fun,” said Lobo, who has moved his entire stable to Keeneland from his former longtime base at Santa Anita. “I’m here to stay. I have 11 horses here now and will be up to 15 soon.”
Lobo, 50, ran his first horse in the United States in March 2001 after a sensational start to his career in his native Brazil, where he won eight group races, including three Group 1’s. In the United States, Lobo has won 137 races for earnings of more than $9.7 million.
