Llanarmon may wake up on Polytrack in La Lorgnette

ETOBICOKE, Ontario — The turf stakes winner Llanarmon is no slouch on Polytrack and will get to compete on that surface Sunday at Woodbine in the $125,000 La Lorgnette Stakes for 3-year-old fillies.
Llanarmon graduated in her second time out at 2 in the Natalma Stakes, a Grade 2 turf fixture that turned out to be rather weak. Her last two efforts in grass stakes were forgettable, and perhaps the move back to Polytrack will enable her to regain her form.
Llanarmon won her season opener in a May 9 allowance on Polytrack. She subsequently wound up third behind the upwardly mobile Royal Fury and multiple stakes winner Moonlit Beauty in a May 24 allowance. Three weeks later, she checked in third behind Lexie Lou and Wild Catomine in the $500,000 Woodbine Oaks.
Llanarmon is trained by Hall of Famer Roger Attfield, who also entered Unspurned in the 1 1/16-mile La Lorgnette.
La Lorgnette Stakes, race 6
KEY CONTENDERS
Llanarmon (Last 3 Beyers: 76-64-82)
DRF FORMULATOR FACT: Attfield has a 22 percent strike rate with turf-to-synthetic runners during the past five years, with a return on investment of $1.74.
Unspurned (Last 3 Beyers: 80-74-74)
◗ She’s also coming off a flat performance on grass in the Grade 3 Ontario Colleen. After finishing a distant fifth in the Woodbine Oaks, she took the second leg of the Canadian Triple Tiara, the $250,000 Bison City Stakes on Polytrack. She won the 1 1/16-mile Bison City with an aggressive front-running approach. There’s other speed in the La Lorgnette lineup, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see her employ a stalking style.
Sweater Weather (Last 3 Beyers: 80-78-59)
◗ She upset Flipcup and Wild Catomine in an Ontario-sired stakes for 3-year-old fillies Aug. 2. Most recently, against older graduates of local yearling sales in the Algoma Stakes, she rallied wide from off fast fractions for third on a night when the rail was the place to be. She has some speed to run at here under regular rider Patrick Husbands.
Paradise Alley (Last 3 Beyers: 80-74-71)
◗ This need-the-lead type established slow fractions before giving way to a sharp Strut the Course when returning from a layoff in a second-level optional claimer on grass Aug. 29.
Ginger Swirl (Last 3 Beyers: 88-78-56)
◗ She’s stretching out off a fine effort in a turf sprint, with ample stamina in her bloodlines. If she rates kindly, then she could make an impact in her third start off an extended layoff.
