Liz's Cable Girl wires Roamin Rachel Stakes

Liz's Cable Girl made short work of her six rivals in the $100,000 Roamin Rachel Stakes at Parx Racing on Saturday, going wire to wire under jockey Jose Ferrer, who last weekend won the Monmouth Park riding title.
The win was the third in a row and second consecutive stakes score for Liz's Cable Girl, a 4-year-old New Jersey-bred filly who is trained by Pat McBurney and owned by Lizbeth Dodd.
Liz's Cable Girl broke sharply and went to the early lead in the six-furlong race for fillies and mares. She blew the race open on the far turn, drawing away to a several-length lead, and then was clearly best in the stretch, scoring by four lengths.
Liz's Cable Girl paid $3.20 and was timed in 1:11.73. She is now 9 for 14 in her career and 3 for 5 this season.
Jessica Krupnick rallied from well back to get up for second by three-quarters of a length over Yorkiepoo Princess, who raced forwardly throughout. It was a neck farther back to She's Stunning in fourth.
The Roamin Rachel was the final leg of the Mid-Atlantic Championships filly and mare dirt-sprint division. Jessica Krupnick had already locked up the division title coming into the Roamin Rachel, but earned 12 points Saturday to take a 11-point lead in the MATCH overall championship for trainer Tres Abbott and owner Sycamore Racing V.
The MATCH Series concludes next Saturday with three races at Laurel Park. Laki, Oak Bluffs, Lewisfield, and Pool Winner all still have a chance to catch Jessica Krupnick.
Liz's Cable Girl finished behind Jessica Krupnick in two stakes to begin her campaign, but has not been beaten since McBurney found an easy allowance spot for her at Monmouth Park that she won by nine lengths.
She came back to win the Eleven North, a handicap for New Jersey-bred fillies and mares at Monmouth, in her start prior to the Roamin Rachel. She finishes second in the MATCH Series filly and mare dirt-sprint division and will share in the bonus pool.
