Livingmybestlife cruises to victory in Lucky Spell Stakes

CYPRESS, Calif. – Livingmybestlife performed like a stakes veteran in her first appearance in such a race in Friday’s $75,000 Lucky Spell Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Los Alamitos.
Ridden by Juan Hernandez, Livingmybestlife ($5.80) took the lead shortly after the start and was never troubled by four rivals, winning the six-furlong race by two lengths over 9-1 Stella Noir.
Livingmybestlife was timed in 1:09.64.
“She broke one step slow, but by the second step she was in front,” Hernandez said. “That’s the way she likes to run. She rolled and she was comfortable the whole race.”
Livingmybestlife set early fractions of 22.21 seconds for the opening quarter-mile and 44.26 for a half-mile, leading by as many as three lengths.
Stella Noir finished 1 1/2 lengths in front of 3-1 Ginja, who was followed by 6-5 favorite Forest Caraway and Pizzazz.
Forest Caraway was third in the Grade 3 Torrey Pines Stakes at a mile for 3-year-old fillies on Aug. 21 at Del Mar. Last year, Forest Caraway was second in the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante.
Livingmybestlife, by the Yes It’s True stallion The Big Beast, races for Hronis Racing and trainer John Sadler. A winner of 3 of 6 starts, Livingmybestlife has earned $147,720.
Hronis and Sadler claimed Livingmybestlife for $50,000 in a maiden race on April 8 at Oaklawn Park when the filly finished second in her debut for trainer Steve Hobby.
