Live Video Coverage continues 7pm on Tuesday August 7: FASIG-TIPTON SARATOGA SELECT YEARLING SALE  When:  Aug. 6-7, 2012 Where: Humphrey S. Finney Sale Pavilion, East and Madison Avenues, Saratoga Springs, N. Y., 12866 Phone: (518) 584-4700 Catalog: 189 yearlings, up from 160 last year despite a declining overall foal crop.   Recent history: The 2011 sale posted gains across the board after selling 103 yearlings for $32,892,000, an average price of $319,340, and a median of $250,000. Gross eked out a one-percent increase, but average rose by a healthy 16 percent, and median was up four percent. Sheikh Mohammed al-Maktoum bought a pair of $1.2 million colts by two of his stallions to top the sale: a Bernardini half-brother to 2011 Horse of the Year Havre de Grace and a Medaglia d’Oro half-brother to 2010 Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver.   Saratoga Sale Day 1 Recap Sales figures at the Fasig-Tipton yearling auction on Monday night collapsed despite the sale of two million-dollar-plus colts late in the sale. The two late sales rescued the figures from even more dismal returns, serving to bolster an extremely soft market that seemed to hit its ceiling any time bidding approached $400,000.  MORE>> Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale Preview: Select yearling buyers and sellers turn their attention to Saratoga Springs, N.Y., this week, where Fasig-Tipton auction executives hope their Monday and Tuesday sale will continue the positive trends started last month in Kentucky.  MORE>> Related Links: Download Saratoga Sale Catalouge (pdf)
