Littlestitious comes into Silverbulletday off two-turn romp at Delta Downs

Serengeti Empress was right up with the best horses Tom Amoss has trained and is the best horse Joel Politi has owned, but her last start for those connections came in November, when she was second in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint.
Now comes Littlestitious, a 3-year-old filly who aced her stakes debut last month and starts Saturday in the $150,000 Silverbulletday Stakes. Littlestitious lost three dirt sprints before graduating at Keeneland going six furlongs in October, but her real breakthrough came Dec. 1 at Delta Downs, where she made her stakes and two-turn debut and won the $100,000 My Trusty Cat by more than 10 lengths.
The My Trusty Cat is contested at seven furlongs, which is configured as a two-turn race at the six-furlong Delta oval. Littlestitious, by Ghostzapper out of Broadway Play, got an 80 Beyer Speed Figure for her stakes win.

“I think it’s a combination of things,” Amoss said, asked about the filly’s recent improvement. “I think she’s better at two turns than sprints, and she’s matured. This race is a real test, though.”
Littlestitious could be third choice behind likely favorite Sun Path, who crushed Fair Grounds route allowance foes last out, and Souper Sensational, 2 for 2 and an easy winner of the $125,000 Glorious Song at Woodbine.
“I think this race tells us if we’ve really progressed and are ready to be part of the division,” Amoss said.
