Litfin's preview: Wonder Again Stakes tops card
Fast and good
The main track is fast, and the turf is being called good; all scheduled grass races remain on.
Wonder Again Stakes tops card
A field of seven 3-year-old fillies goes in race 8, the featured $200,000 Wonder Again Stakes.
The 1 1/8-mile race on the inner turf serves as a prep for the inaugural Belmont Oaks Invitational to be run July 5.
Daring Dancer and Recepta, the first and third finishers, respectively, from last month’s Appalachian Stakes in their respective seasonal debuts, square off once again; both turned in bullet workouts last Sunday.
Daring Dancer is perfect from three starts, after an explosive inside rally in the Appalachian.
Recepta, who loomed boldly outside before flattening out, will be first-time Lasix for Phillips Racing and Jimmy Toner, who developed the race’s namesake into a multiple Grade 1 winner.
Party Now has won or placed in all four starts with steadily rising Beyer Speed Figures for Shug McGaughey and may be in position to control the pace with an alert break from the outside.
