Litfin's preview: Pick six carryover
Thursday, May 29 preview
$38,265 PICK SIX CARRYOVER
Thanks to Memorial Day grass winners Indy Sea ($24.60), Holabird ($21.40), and Mr Rosenthal ($17.80), there is a $38,265 pick six carryover that gets under way with race 4 at 2:53 p.m. Eastern.
Somewhat surprisingly, given how races fill nowadays, only races 4 and 6 are on the turf, which is firm.
Not so surprisingly, and in a sign of the times, they are both at six furlongs.
FIVE-HORSE FEATURE
In another sign of the times, the third-level optional-claiming feature on the main track lured five horses.
Dawly, coming off four consecutive Beyer Figures of 95 or better, breaks from the outside post and heads a familiar cast of characters that also includes, from the rail out, Mr Palmer, Summer Sunset, Don Dulce and Balance of Power.
BIG DAY FOR R-ROD?
In addition to Dawly, who is 9-5 on the morning line in race 3, Rudy Rodriguez sends out four additional runners, among them Don Tito, the 5-2 morning-line choice in race 7; How, who seeks her third consecutive victory in race 8; and Absolute Beauty, who makes her first start of the year as the 2-1 chalk in race 9.
