Litfin: How I'd play the Breeders' Cup pick six on Saturday
The strategy for Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup Ultra Pick Six with a $2.5 million-guaranteed pool is pretty simple: Survive and advance through the first four legs, and get to a pair of imposing favorites at the end – Toronado (#5) in the Mile, and Shared Belief (#6) in the Classic.

To get there, this is the plan:
In the Turf Sprint, I'm leaning toward horses with experience over the hillside course: Reneesgotzip (#1), Sweet Swap (#3), Tightend Touchdown (#4), Ambitious Brew (#5), and Home Run Kitten (#10).
In the Juvenile, with Calculator a late scratch I'm trying to get by with just the duo of Carpe Diem (#9) and Daredevil (#12).
In the Turf, I stand with two European invaders, Telescope (#1) and Flintshire (#7).
In the Sprint, I'm casting a wide net with a magnificent seven: Secret Circle (#4), Rich Tapestry (#6), Mico Margarita (#7), Palace (#8), Big Macher (#10), Work All Week (#13) and Bourbon Courage (#14).
After that, it’s up to Toronado in the Mile, and Shared Belief in the Classic.
So, the number of horses in each leg is:
5 x 2 x 2 x 7 x 1 x 1 = 140 x $2 = $280.
The ticket is:
1, 3, 4, 5, 10 with 9, 12 with 1, 7 with 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 13, 14 with 5 with 6
