Litfin: Aqueduct pick five for Sunday, Dec. 7
Sometimes you’d like to link two horses in a daily double, except they are not in consecutive races. What to do?
Well, since two fillies with some intrigue on Sunday’s card bookend the pick five, let’s fashion them into a double “sandwich” with a 15 percent takeout by singling them and spreading in the middle three legs.
RACE 1 – HOME TO CARROWKEEL (5) has more angles than a three-cushion billiard shot. She switches from turf to dirt in her return from a layoff for Michelle Nevin, who wins with about one-third of her starters in both of those categories, and also drops into a soft $12,500 maiden claimer. The pedigree is highly suitable, as half-siblings Please Impress and Kilnockagain are multiple winners on dirt.
RACE 2 – Using SEVEN STARS (1), FROSTY BAY (2), SIDISINFORTHREE (3), PENTHOUSE PARTY (4), and OCEAN BOULEVARD (7).
RACE 3 – Trying to lock up this low-graded claiming sprint with JEALOUS (1), ANDROMEDA’S RISK (5), SILVER SILENCE (6), and WHY NOT HER (7).
RACE 4 – I could buy just about anyone in this maiden claimer – and in fact, I will hit the “all” button and cover the 10 of ‘em.

RACE 5 – TAYLOR JAGGER (2) won back-to-back going long on the inner dirt last winter for Nick Esler, who reclaimed the filly from a sprint at Belmont in early fall. Stretching back out to two turns from a cozy post, she is the controlling speed on her favorite surface.
Using 1 x 5 x 4 x 10 x 1 horses is 200 combinations, which at 50 cents per combo is a $100 play. It is essentially a parlay of Home to Carrowkeel onto Taylor Jagger, with the potential for a payoff boost provided they both win and things break right in between.
The ticket: 5 with 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 with 1, 5, 6, 7 with ALL with 2
