Line of Vision sees her way clear in Eternal Search

Line of Vision wins 2018 Eternal Search
Michael Burns Line of Vision returned $8.30 in winning the Eternal Search Stakes at Woodbine on Sunday.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario — Line of Vision, who got a late start to her campaign, came charging on under Luis Contreras to take the $100,000 Eternal Search Stakes at Woodbine on Sunday.

H. M. S. Pinafore set very slow fractions in the 1 1/16-mile route, with the favored She’s Got Fire and Clickity Clack close.

Clickity Clack hit the front in the stretch, and got the better of She’s Got Fire, but Line of Vision emerged from traffic to close stoutly and win by three-quarters of a length, in a time of 1:46.84.

Clickity Clack edged She’s Got Fire by a head for second. H. M. S. Pinafore faded to fourth, and Gosudarina trailed the five-horse field of Ontario-sired 3-year-old fillies.

Line of Vision ($8.30) won two restricted stakes here last fall, but never made her season debut until she finished seventh in the June 29 Lady Angela Stakes. It set her up nicely for the Eternal Search.

“It was a real rush job (to make the Lady Angela), but it helped her get forward to this race,” trainer Andrew Smith said. “She’s not a very big filly, but she’s extremely professional. We’re very happy with her.”

By Court Vision, Line of Vision earned $60,000 for Joey Gee Thoroughbreds.
