Line of Vision rallies to win South Ocean Stakes

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Line of Vision ($7.50) mounted a powerful wide rally to take the $125,000 South Ocean Stakes under Luis Contreras on Wednesday night at Woodbine.
Fresh off a victory in the six-furlong Victorian Queen Stakes, Line of Vision trailed on the backstretch in the 1 1/16-mile route for Ontario-sired 2-year-old fillies. She blew by most of the field on the far turn, made the lead early in the stretch, and then held off the wide-closing longshot Gosudarina to prevail by a length, in a final time of 1:45.55 over the wet Tapeta surface.
Clickity Clack, the slight 5-2 favorite, was a prominent third. She was followed by She’s the Berries, Bramble Queen, Gizmo’s Destiny, Show Me the Prize, and Swagitude.
“I’m really happy I rode this horse today,” said Contreras. “She broke good, and just relaxed by herself. I was nice and confident and comfortable all the way. Once I hit the three-eighths, I started to make my move. She had a tremendous kick at the end.”
By Court Vision, Line of Vision banked $75,000 for Joey Gee Thoroughbreds and trainer Andrew Smith.
