LINCOLN, Neb. - Three riders were injured here on Saturday and Sunday.

Megan Ludlow went down on Saturday after picking up the mount on Flyin Brian at the last minute. Flyin Brian pitched Ludlow head first to the ground as they left the saddling area. She was taken away by ambulance and missed the remainder of the weekend, and Wednesday morning she was awaiting a doctor's clearance to resume riding.

On Sunday, John Conheeney, riding Leaders Wing, endured his second bad-looking spill of the meet. As the field headed up the backstretch, Leaders Wing appeared to lose action in her hind legs and lugged in and crashed through the inner rail. Conheeney hit hard and was taken off by ambulance. It was determined that he suffered a deep cut to his hand and a possible fractured kneecap. He was able to walk by the end of the day. He said Wednesday morning that he hoped to be riding again by the start of the Columbus race meet later this month.

Leaders Wing, meanwhile, laid motionless on the track for several minutes but eventually was able to stand up and walk into the horse ambulance. The incident delayed the running of the second by more than a half-hour as repairs were made to the inner rail.

* Dan Beck will miss the remainder of the year after breaking his collarbone in three places in Sunday's final race. Beck had just won the featured Who Doctor Who Handicap aboard High Dice and was aboard Warrior Strode in the nightcap when his horse broke down entering the first turn, throwing him to the ground. As of Wednesday Beck was still waiting learn if surgery would be necessary.
