Lightstream, Just Talkin impress in debuts

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Sunday’s card featured impressive debut victories by the 3-year-old fillies Lightstream and Just Talkin.
Lightstream earned an eye-catching 103 Beyer Speed Figure in winning at first asking, going seven furlongs on dirt with Julien Leparoux aboard for trainer Brian Lynch. It was the highest Beyer by a 3-year-old of either sex in 2016.
“Rafael Hernandez was doing a lot of work on her before unfortunately getting hurt, and then I had Julien work her the last two times, and they both were in love with her,” said Lynch. “I never did press on her too hard in her works, and she is still a bit green, but she obviously has a lot of talent, and fortunately she showed up on Sunday.”
Lynch said he is uncertain where Lightstream, a daughter of Harlan’s Holiday, will run next.
Just Talkin, a full sister to Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint runner-up Lady Shipman, closed strongly to win a 7 1/2-furlong maiden special weight race on turf under leading rider Javier Castellano. The daughter of Midshipman is trained by Chad Brown and owned in partnership by Michael Dubb, Bethlehem Stables, and Gary Aisquith.
