Life Is Good works five furlongs in stakes-debut prep

ARCADIA, Calif. - Life Is Good, rated as one of trainer Bob Baffert’s top 3-year-old prospects for 2021, worked six furlongs in a quick 1:10.60 at Santa Anita on Sunday for an expected stakes debut that could occur as quickly as next weekend.
Baffert timed Life Is Good in 1:10.80.
Baffert said Saturday’s Grade 3 Sham Stakes at a mile on Saturday, or the Grade 2 San Vicente Stakes at seven furlongs on Feb. 7, are options for Life Is Good.
Owned by China Horse Club and WinStar Farm, Life Is Good won his debut by 9 1/2 lengths in a race at 6 1/2 furlongs on Nov. 22.

Medina Spirit, who worked five furlongs in 1:02 on Sunday, is another candidate from the Baffert stable for the $100,000 Sham Stakes. Medina Spirit won his debut in a maiden special weight race at 5 1/2 furlongs at Los Alamitos on Dec. 11.
Trainer John Shirreffs has two candidates for the Sham Stakes in Parnelli and Waspirant, both of whom worked Sunday.
Parnelli, the winner of a maiden special weight race at a mile in his fourth career start at Del Mar on Nov. 28, worked five furlongs in 1:01. Waspirant, a well-beaten fourth in the Grade 1 American Pharoah Stakes at 1 1/16 miles on Sept. 26, worked five furlongs in 1:01.20.
