Liam's Map colt brings highest price by a freshman sire at Keeneland April sale

Liam’s Map set a track record when winning the 2015 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile at Keeneland in his career finale. At least one of his offspring has inherited his affinity for the track. A colt from the first crop of Liam’s Map breezed a furlong in 10 seconds during the under-tack preview for the Keeneland April sale, tied for the fastest time at the distance, and then parlayed that into the highest price tag for a freshman sire at the sale.
The colt sold for $350,000 to ERJ Racing and Dennis O’Neill at Tuesday’s sale, outpacing a $235,000 Competitive Edge filly and a $230,000 American Pharoah colt. The Liam’s Map colt, who was consigned by Wavertree Stables, as agent, is out of the Grade 3-winning Greatness mare Jenny’s So Great. It is the family of Grade 1 winner Supah Gem.
Liam’s Map, by the late Unbridled’s Song, also won the 2015 Woodward Stakes and finished second in the Whitney to eventual divisional champion Honor Code. He stands alongside that foe at Lane’s End.
