Lewis Vale tries for two in a row in turf route
RACE REPLAY IS NOT AVAILABLEARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – Lewis Vale seemed to find a home on turf last out, winning a first-level allowance race at Arlington Park with a solid closing kick, and should have a chance to make it two straight on Friday in the featured second race, an optional claimer at 1 1/16 miles on turf.
A son of the good racemare Indian Vale, Lewis Vale didn’t race between November 2013 and May 15 of this year, and after a modest comeback race on the Prairie Meadows dirt, trainer Mike Stidham gave Lewis Vale a look on turf June 5 at Arlington, and the 4-year-old Flower Alley colt responding by rallying into a slow pace to win by a neck. The form of the race was flattered when third-place Crewman returned to win last weekend at Arlington, and Lewis Vale might have another forward move in him while making just his second start on grass.
