Lets Get Frisky has family behind her
CYPRESS, Calif. – Lets Get Frisky, who runs in a 5 1/2-furlong optional claimer at Los Alamitos on Friday, has bloodlines that go back nearly two decades for owner and trainer Eric Kruljac.
Lets Get Frisky is out of Iza Bay, who was trained by Kruljac. A two-time stakes winner who earned $138,772, Iza Bay has had six foals to race, and they have earned a collective $1,021,599.
“She helped put my kids through college,” Kruljac said.
The most successful of those foals has been La Nez, a four-time stakes winner who earned $417,000. Lets Get Frisky has a long way to go to reach that level of success. She has won 2 of 16 starts and earned $75,441.
On Friday, Lets Get Frisky is part of a field of nine California-bred fillies and mares.
KEY CONTENDERS
Lets Get Frisky (Last 3 Beyers: 54-65-63)
◗ Lets Get Frisky is winless in four starts since winning an allowance race at Turf Paradise in February. She was third in an allowance race for California-bred fillies and mares at seven furlongs at Santa Anita in March and followed that up with a second, a fourth, and a fifth in optional claimers for California-breds there.
◗ Lets Get Frisky wore blinkers in her last two starts but will not wear them Friday.
“She’s had two bad trips in a row,” Kruljac said. “She’s needs a good trip. We put blinkers on her, and she tried to run off. She won’t wear blinkers. She didn’t have any problems before, so we’re hopeful.”
Tatum’s Gold (Last 3 Beyers: 71-70-54)
◗ Tatum’s Gold has not raced since finishing fourth of eight in the $200,000 Golden State Juvenile Fillies at Santa Anita last October. Trained by Steve Miyadi for owner and breeder Nick Alexander, Tatum’s Gold won a maiden race at 6 1/2 furlongs at Santa Anita last September in her fifth start.

Codacious (Last 3 Beyers: 59-77-72)
◗ Codacious will have a pivotal role in the race as the expected pacesetter.
◗ Trained by Cliff Sise, Codacious led throughout a maiden race for California-bred fillies and mares at 5 1/2 furlongs on March 28. In her lone start against winners, Codacious fought for the early lead in an optional claimer May 7 and faded in the final furlong to finish eighth of 10.
