Letmikefigureitout became a stakes winner in his first stakes start Saturday when he wired the field in the $100,000 Jacob V. Morreale at Fair Grounds. He finished 2 1/2 lengths clear of runner-up Good and Stout, while it was another half-length back in third to He’s Late Again. The Morreale was one of three Louisiana-bred stakes on the card, which closed out opening weekend. The races are expected to produce starters for next month’s Louisiana Champions Day. It’s where Letmikefigureitout is likely headed, winning trainer Alan Klanfer said in an interview conducted by Fair Grounds.   “We’ll have to hook the monster,” he said of three-time defending winner Touchuponastar. Letmefigureitout ($9.60) moved to the lead at the start of the Morreale and proceeded to set fractions of 24.54 for the opening quarter, 48.44 for the half-mile and 1:12.70 for six furlongs. In the stretch he had more, and went on to cover the one mile, 70 yards on a fast track in 1:41.78. “The colt tries,” winning rider Devin Magnon told Fair Grounds publicity. “He gives you what he gives you and when they let me get away with that first quarter, I felt good about it.” Letmikefigureitout has now won 6 of 10 starts. The son of Daaher races for his breeder, Blue Ridge. Caldwell Memorial Secret Faith put in a sweeping run through the lane to close from last for a 2 1/2-length win over Six String in the $100,000 Delmar R. Caldwell Memorial. It was another 3 1/4 lengths back in third to Beleout. Secret Faith ($4.20) hopped out at the start of the six-furlong race for fillies and mares, spotting the field several lengths as the leaders dashed through an opening quarter in 22.03 seconds and a half-mile in 45.53. Secret Faith trailed into the stretch, then began moving past rivals and went on to cover six furlongs on a fast track in 1:10.23. Jockey C.J. McMahon told Fair Grounds publicity he liked how the race was shaping up in front of him after the start left him trailing early with Secret Faith. “Patience was a virtue and she did the rest,” he said. Jayde Gelner trains Secret Faith for Norman Stables. She is a daughter of Aurelius Maximus. Secret Faith was winning for the 10th time in her 13-race career and now has earnings of $606,022. As she neared the wire, Fair Grounds announcer John Dooley summed up the race for Secret Faith. “It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish,” he said. Andrew Ney Memorial Not On Herb clocked the same time for six furlongs as Secret Faith when he covered the distance in 1:10.23 while winning the $100,000 Andrew Ney Memorial. He won by three-quarters of a length over Geaux Sugar, while it was another neck back in third to El Dinero. Not On Herb ($12) pushed Geaux Sugar through fractions of 22.17 seconds for the opening quarter and 44.99 for the half-mile before moving past Geaux Sugar in the stretch. Paco Lopez was aboard for what was his third win on the card Saturday. David Terre trains Not On Herb for Crusaders Stable. The winner is by First Samurai. *** Racing resumes Thursday with the Thanksgiving Day card to begin at 12 p.m. Central.
