Let It Ride Mom takes Whimsical in season debut

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Let It Ride Mom made her season debut a winning one over a solid group of fillies and mares Saturday at Woodbine in the Grade 3 Whimsical Stakes.
With Patrick Husbands aboard, Let It Ride Mom ($9.30) raced between horses in midpack on the backstretch, as the speedy Maryland shipper Jessica Krupnick set honest fractions in the six-furlong sprint. Let It Ride Mom loomed into contention exiting the turn, split rivals in midstretch, and then collared the favored Moonlit Promise late to win by a head in a time of 1:08.96. Let It Ride Mom got an 85 Beyer Speed Figure.
Scotty's Model came wide to edge out Jessica Krupnick for third, while a stalking Silent Sonet faded to fifth in the eight-horse field.
It was the third stakes score on the local Tapeta for Let It Ride Mom, a 4-year-old daughter of the popular Into Mischief. She banked $75,000 of the $128,250 purse for Live Oak Plantation and trainer Mark Casse.
“She ran great,” said Kathryn Sullivan, an assistant to Casse. “She’s a lovely filly. We’ve always really liked her. She just loves this track. She’s grown up a little bit, and matured.”
