Legendofthekitten faces winners in feature
Legendofthekitten, a daughter of leading turf sire Kitten’s Joy, is owned by Ken and Sarah Ramsey and trained by Mike Maker. Those connections were enough to make her one of the favorites in her winning debut last month on the Churchill Downs turf, but she still might offer value as she takes the next step in her young career. She will be the least-experienced member of an overflow field when she tries winners Thursday in a $58,000 allowance for fillies and mares on the Keeneland turf.
The red-hot Joe Bravo, who is in the midst of a renaissance year, replaces Julien Leparoux on Legendofthekitten. The jockey has won 17 graded stakes in 2015 and is likely to have six Breeders’ Cup mounts – Sheer Drama in the Distaff, Big Blue Kitten for the Ramseys in the Turf, Greenpointcrusader in the Juvenile, Watsdachances in the Filly and Mare Turf, Merry Meadow in the Filly and Mare Sprint, and Conquest Daddyo in the Juvenile Turf.
My Senses, trained by Graham Motion, went winless in 2014 but has returned from 10 months on the bench to run well in two starts this season, most recently winning her maiden at Parx.
Tiz Kismet won her maiden in June at Churchill Downs in her fourth career start. In her next two outings, she was beaten a head at Indiana Grand and finished fifth at Kentucky Downs after chasing the pace. She has turned in two solid works since her last start.
Four also-eligibles figure to make an impact if they draw in, including Tiztalented, coming off a maiden win Aug. 20 at Saratoga. Graded stakes-placed Silverpocketsfull also is among those on the outside looking in.
Immediately preceding the featured allowance is a $62,000 optional-claiming event for fillies and mares with a field that includes the promising Tiz So Sweet. In June 2014, Tiz So Sweet finished fifth behind Sweet Reason in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes, which also included Sweet Whiskey, Unbridled Forever, My Miss Sophia, Artemis Agrotera, and Fashion Plate. She returned from more than a year on the bench to win at Saratoga, then was second in the Summer Colony Stakes.
Among those taking on Tiz So Sweet will be Ketel Twist, third in the Grade 3 Sixty Sails.
