HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - The Grade 1 winner Leave No Trace, who finished last in the Grade 2 Davona Dale at Gulfstream Park on March 4, is getting time off after bruising her cannon bones but is expected to resume training later this summer, trainer Phil Serpe said Friday.
In addition, Leave No Trace had an ankle chip removed, Serpe said. Leave No Trace is at Belmont Park being hand-walked, but will soon get 30 days of turnout at owner Bob Vukovich’s farm in Colts Neck, N.J, Serpe said.
Serpe did not discount Leave No Trace returning to the races right before or during the Saratoga meet.
Leave No Trace, a daughter of Outwork, won the Grade 1 Spinaway at Saratoga and finished third in the Grade 1 Frizette at Aqueduct. Leave No Trace finished her 2-year-old campaign with a runner-up finish to Wonder Wheel in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies.
