At least five pointing for Queens County

As the week began, New York Racing Association stakes coordinator Andrew Byrnes had five probable starters for the $100,000 Queens County Stakes on Saturday.
The expected runners are Micromanage and Percussion for Todd Pletcher, Stormin Monarcho (David Jacobson), Elnaawi (Kiaran McLaughlin), and Don Dulce (Jason Servis).
Stormin Monarcho enters in sharp form, having won stakes at Penn National, Laurel Park, and Delaware Park since September. Jacobson also could start Wealth to Me, an optional-claiming winner in the slop at Laurel Park last Saturday.
Elnaawi is coming off a third-level optional-claiming win at Keeneland.
The field could grow when entries are taken Wednesday because horses can be supplemented to the Queens County for $1,000 plus entry and starting fees.
◗ Five-pound apprentice Israel Rodriguez won the first three races Sunday at Aqueduct for three different trainers. Rodriguez won the first on Hot On Ice ($8.50) for trainer Joseph Lostritto, the second on Lemon Song ($37) for Gary Sciacca, and the third on Andromeda’s Risk ($4.20) for Bruce Brown.
The Rodriguez daily double on races 1-2 paid $142, and the double on races 2-3 returned $125. The $2 pick three on races 1-3 paid $596.
◗ Angel Cruz scored twice Sunday, meaning five of the nine races were won by apprentice riders.
◗ Jeremy Rose posted his first two wins this week since recently relocating to New York. Rose rode winners at Aqueduct on Thursday and Sunday, and on Saturday, he won the $110,000 Canterbury on the Claiming Crown card at Gulfstream Park.
