Leading ladies Stellar Wind, Finest City, Paradise Woods put in works

Two female champions and another filly who is a Grade 1 winner were among the workers at Santa Anita on Sunday.
Stellar Wind, the dominant older female in California this year and the champion 3-year-old filly of 2015, worked a half-mile in 48 seconds. Trained by John Sadler for Hronis Racing, Stellar Wind is a leading candidate for the Breeders’ Cup Distaff at Del Mar on Nov. 3. She won the Grade 1 Clement L. Hirsch Stakes at Del Mar in July in her last start.
Finest City, the champion female sprinter of 2016, worked a half-mile in 47.60 seconds. Trained by Ian Kruljac for Tyler Seltzer, Finest City won the BC Filly and Mare Sprint at Santa Anita last November and is scheduled to run in the same race at Del Mar on Nov. 4.
Paradise Woods, the winner of the Grade 1 Santa Anita Oaks in April, worked a half-mile in 46.40 seconds. Trained by Richard Mandella for Marty and Pam Wygod and Steve Sarkowsky, Paradise Woods was sixth in the Grade 3 Torrey Pines Stakes at Del Mar on Aug. 27.
Mandella said on Sunday that Paradise Woods is a candidate for the Zenyatta Stakes at 1 1/16 miles at Santa Anita on Sept. 30 or the Grade 3 L.A. Woman Stakes at 6 1/2 furlongs on Oct. 8.
