Leading Cartel remained perfect in three career starts Saturday, when he darted to a neck win over Woodys Gold in the $334,069 Mountain Top Quarter Horse Futurity at Ruidoso Downs. It was another head back in third to Midnight Train Mo.
The 350-yard race was for 2-year-olds bred in New Mexico.
Leading Cartel ($4.20) broke well and was always prominent while covering the distance on a fast track in 17.95 seconds. Esgar Ramirez was aboard for Reliance Ranches and trainer Mike Robbins.

Leading Cartel came into the Mountain Top off a three-quarters of a length trial win May 29 at Ruidoso. He covered 350 yards in 17.90 seconds, the third-fastest qualifying time. Before that race, Leading Cartel won his debut in a Remington Park maiden race May 1.
Reliance Ranches purchased the son of Big Daddy Cartel last year at a yearling auction at Ruidoso Downs. For his first stakes win Saturday he earned $152,097.
