Layden, Grening to receive Old Hilltop Award

Sports Illustrated senior writer Tim Layden and the Daily Racing Form ’s David Grening will be presented the Old Hilltop Award at Pimlico’s Alibi Breakfast on May 17, two days prior to the Preakness Stakes. The Old Hilltop Award honors those who have covered Thoroughbred racing with excellence and distinction.

Other Preakness media awards winners are Team Rapid Redux, a special award of merit in honor of Rapid Redux winning 22 consecutive races; Philadelphia Inquirer writer Bob Ford, the David F. Woods Award for his column on the relationship between Fair Hill Training Center-based trainers Graham Motion and Michael Matz; Blood-Horse photographer Chad Harmon, the Jerry Frutkoff Preakness Photo Award for his photo of Shackleford and Animal Kingdom nearing the finish line in the Preakness Stakes.
