Lawyer Ron's dam to be auctioned

The dam of Lawyer Ron, now in foal to Distorted Humor, will head to auction at Fasig-Tipton's November mixed sale on Nov. 4. The mare, Donation, a 12-year-old daughter of Lord Avie, will sell as part of the Four Star Sales consignment. Four Star will offer her on behalf of a Walmac Farm co-owner, Bobby Trussell.

Four Star also will consign the mare's weanling colt by Smarty Jones.

"Obviously, Lawyer Ron's performance this year has had a huge impact on the appeal of Donation and her foal," said Four Star Sales's Kerry Cauthen. "A win or top finish in the Breeders' Cup Classic can only add icing to the cake."

Lawyer Ron won this summer's Woodward Stakes and Whitney Handicap, taking the Whitney in track-record time of 1:46.64 for nine furlongs. He also won this year's Oaklawn Handicap and most recently finished second in the Sept. 30 Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont, in which he was beaten by a neck by Curlin.

Donation and her Smarty Jones colt will be available for inspection from Nov. 1 at Fasig-Tipton's Barn 4 at Newtown Paddocks in Lexington, Ky.
