Laurel: 'Souvenirs' just gets up

It took all 1,014 feet of the Laurel Park stretch, but 6-5 favorite Among My Souvenirs wore down pacesetter Forestier to win the $60,000 by a head.
Forestier, the 8-5 second choice, and jockey Abel Castellano Jr. sprinted clear at the start of the six-furlong Marshua, for 3-year-old fillies. They set fractions of 22.99 and 46.58 and looked home free in midstretch until Among My Souvenirs and jockey Mario Pino nailed them in the final stride. Ask Queenie finished third, six lengths behind Forestier.
Among My Souvenirs, who had won her only previous start, stalked Forestier on the backstretch and sliced between horses on the turn, turning the Marshua into a two-filly race down the stretch. A Souvenir Copy filly owned by Marathon Farms and trained by Tony Dutrow, Among My Souvenirs ran the six furlongs in 1:11.20 and returned $4.40 to win.
