Laurel: Onepointhreekarats impressive winning stakes debut in Thirty Eight Go Go

Jim McCue/Maryland Jockey Club The 4-year-old filly Onepointhreekarats, ridden by Jeremy Rose, wins her stakes debut by 3 1/2 lengths in the Thirty Eight Go Go.

The filly Onepointhreekarats did not begin her racing career until February of her 4-year-old season and needed four starts before she finally won her maiden on turf. Since focusing on dirt routes this fall, however, Onepointhreekarats has been flawless.

Stepping up to stakes company for the first time, Onepointhreekarats collected her third straight victory in Saturday’s $104,250 Thirty Eight Go Go Stakes for fillies and mares at Laurel Park.

Coming off back-to-back daylight wins while clearing her first two allowance conditions, Onepointhreekarats was given seven weeks off by trainer Graham Motion to prepare for the one-mile Thirty Eight Go Go. She stalked the pace under Jeremy Rose and sent up to challenge pacesetter Whatabootie after a half-mile went in 47.79 seconds. Onepointhreekarats opened up a clear lead coming into the stretch and was hand-ridden to the wire, finishing 3 1/2 lengths on top in a final time of 1:38.42.

Withgreatpleasure, coming back one week after finishing second sprinting in the Willa On The Move, got second, two lengths in front of 4-5 favorite Bold Affair.

"She’s getting special right now," said Rose, whose win aboard Onepointhreekarats was his third on Saturday's card. "Graham and everybody have done a great job and I had a lot of confidence going into the race. Today was her day and she showed it. She's very tactical. You put her where she’s up close where you won’t have a lot of traffic to deal with.”

A daughter of Medaglia d’Oro owned by Live Oak Plantation, Onepointhreekarats has now won 4 of 10 starts and $169,989.
