Laurel cancels Saturday's Winter Sprintfest card; rescheduled for Feb. 20
Due to inclement weather, Laurel Park has transferred Saturday's Winter Sprintfest card, featuring the Grade 3 Runhappy Barbara Fritchie Stakes and Grade 3 General George Stakes, to next Saturday, Feb. 20.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory until Sunday morning at 7:00 AM EST for the Laurel, Maryland area with icy rain and drizzle expected along with freezing temperatures.
The Fritchie and General George are the first graded stakes of the year in Maryland and anchored a card that included the Nellie Morse Stakes for fillies and mares; the John B. Campbell Stakes for older dirt routers; the Wide Country Stakes for 3-year-old fillies; and the Miracle Wood Stakes for three-year-olds at one mile.
