Laughing Fox to represent Asmussen in Jim Dandy

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Trainer Steve Asmussen, who won the 2018 Jim Dandy Stakes with Tenfold, will seek a second straight Jim Dandy trophy when he sends out Laughing Fox in the Grade 2, $600,000 stakes for 3-year-olds on July 27.
Laughing Fox, who finished fifth in the Preakness, 3 3/4 lengths behind winner War of Will, worked five furlongs in 1:01.19 Monday over the Oklahoma training track. He got his last three furlongs in 36.50 seconds and galloped out six furlongs in 1:13.64 and seven furlongs in 1:26.38.
“That’s as good as he’s ever worked," Asmussen said.

Laughing Fox ran in the Preakness after winning the Oaklawn Invitational two weeks prior. In the Preakness, Laughing Fox was 25 lengths off the lead after the first quarter and made up more than 21 of those lengths by the finish.
“He didn’t exactly get the trip we were hoping for and he ran on nicely,” Asmussen said. “I like him at a mile and an eighth and I think he’s training better with the break. He had a lot of racing this spring.”
Meanwhile, Tenfold, last year’s Jim Dandy winner, worked five furlongs on Sunday in 1:01.90 over the Oklahoma training track. He breezed with Tikhvin Flew, getting his last quarter in 25.68 while galloping out six furlongs in 1:13.94.
Tenfold won the Grade 3 Pimlico Special in May but finished ninth in the Grade 1 Stephen Foster in June. Asmussen has not yet decided where Tenfold will make his next start.
