Laugh It Up will attempt to win her fifth straight race on Monday while taking on a competitive group of fillies and mares in the $55,000 Chaves County at Zia Park in Hobbs, N.M.

The one-mile Chaves County drew a field of eight. Others set to start include the multiple stakes winners African Rose and Lady Contender as well as Remington Park invader What the World.

Laugh It Up is a daughter of Straight Faced who began her streak in April in the conditioned-allowance ranks at The Downs at Albuquerque.

Chaves County (Race 11)

KEY CONTENDERS

Laugh It Up (Last 3 Beyers: 71-66-62)

◗ She enters the Chaves County off a wire-to-wire victory in the Dr. O.G. Fischer Memorial Handicap at SunRay Park. The seven-furlong race was run around two turns Aug. 8.

◗ Laugh It Up’s streak includes a pair of conditioned allowance sprints at Albuquerque and an optional $12,500 claiming race around two turns at SunRay.

◗ She started her career in the $25,000 maiden-claiming ranks last year at Gulfstream Park before making her way to New Mexico.

◗ Ry Eikleberry has the mount for Duane Cugnini and trainer Justin Evans.

Lady Contender (Last 3 Beyers: 73-68-85)

◗ She is returning to racing with fillies and mares after taking on male rivals last out in the $100,000 Arapahoe Park Classic. Lady Contender finished seventh, two starts after defeating males in the track’s Front Range.

◗ She is seeking career win No. 14.

◗ Glen Murphy has the mount for trainer Stacey Rushton.

Belleofthebeach (Last 3 Beyers: 80-73-45)

◗ She will attempt to carry her speed a mile on Monday, when she breaks from the rail off a front-running win in a 6 1/2-furlong optional claimer Sept. 13 at Zia.

◗ Belleofthebeach rolled by five lengths in her start last month, which was her first out since May.

◗ Alfredo Juarez Jr. has the mount on the stakes winner, who races for Teed Off Stable and is trained by Evans.

African Rose (Last 3 Beyers: 65-80-63)

◗ She is seeking her third consecutive win. African Rose won the $55,000 Albuquerque Distaff two starts ago May 23, then accounted for an optional-claiming win at the same track in her most recent outing Sept. 15.

◗ She will break from post 8 under Elvin Gonzalez.
