Las Vegas books taking Woodbine, Mohawk

Racebooks throughout Nevada have begun offering wagering on Thoroughbred racing from Woodbine and harness racing at nearby Mohawk.

Las Vegas basically acts as a simulcast partner with Woodbine, paying a flat fee based on a percentage of the handle.

"We're in about 83 racebooks," said Sean Pinsonneault, chief operating officer for the Woodbine Entertainment Group, which owns both tracks. "We don't really know what the handle's going to be."

Pinsonneault said being in Las Vegas will give the racing at Woodbine and Mohawk important exposure to bettors.

"There has been a groundswell of interest in our product," said Pinsonneault.
