Larry Best to receive New Owner of the Year Award

Larry Best, who races as OXO Equine, has been selected to receive the 2019 New Owner of the Year Award, presented by Fasig-Tipton, at OwnerView's Thoroughbred Owner Conference later this month at Santa Anita. The award is intended to recognize a new Thoroughbred owner who has been successful in the sport and has had a positive impact on the industry.
Best, who began racing in 2017, has already campaigned Grade 1 winner Cambier Parc, Grade 2 winner Instagrand, and Grade 3 winner Instilled Regard. Cambier Parc, who Best purchased for $1.25 million as a Keeneland September yearling, most recently won the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks, and will go for a second consecutive top-level victory in this Saturday's Queen Elizabeth II at Keeneland.
Best has become a major player in the commercial arena. His seven-figure purchases also include Instagrand, a $1.2-million Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream juvenile. Since he entered racing, Best has purchased 12 yearlings for a total of $12,435,000 at the Keeneland September yearling sale.
“I am honored to have been selected as New Owner of the Year,” Best said in a release distributed by OwnerView announcing the award. “Thoroughbred ownership has been a fun and exciting experience for me, and I look forward to many more years of being involved in this great sport.”
The New Owner of the Year Award has previously been presented to the Churchill Downs Racing Club, Charles and Susan Chu, Sol Kumin, and LNJ Foxwoods.
