Lane’s End releases 2015 stud fees

Lane’s End Farm in Versailles, Ky., has released the advertised 2015 stud fees for its 15-horse stallion roster.

Leading the group will be Smart Strike, a 22-year-old son of Mr. Prospector, whose fee will remain unchanged at $100,000.

The next-highest 2015 fee will belong to Candy Ride, who will stand for $60,000 next year, up from his advertised mark of $35,000 in 2014. Progeny by the 15-year-old Ride the Rails horse were led on the track this year by champion Shared Belief.

City Zip, the sire of Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf winner Dayatthespa and Breeders’ Cup Sprint winner Work All Week, will also see an increased stud fee for the upcoming season, from $25,000 to $40,000.

Other Lane’s End stallions to stand for an increased fee include Lemon Drop Kid ($40,000 from $35,000), Curlin ($35,000 from $25,000), and Quality Road ($35,000 from $25,000). The latter produced Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf winner Hootenanny from his first crop.

The only returning Lane’s End stallion to stand for a reduced fee in 2015 will be Mineshaft, who goes from $25,000 from $30,000.

Noble Mission, a Group 1-winning full sibling to the undefeated European champion Frankel, will stand his debut season for $25,000.
