PHOENIX – Lady Rosberg made it four wins in her last five starts as the 4-year-old filly captured Saturday’s $35,000 Queen of the Green at Turf Paradise.

Owned by Karl Krieg and trained by Valorie Lund, Lady Rosberg chased pacesetter Rock and Glory in the one-mile turf contest for fillies and mares, doggedly kept after that foe into the lane under Gallyn Mitchell, got the better of her in the final sixteenth, and gamely fended off Ricspretentiousgal late to win by a half-length.

Ricspretentiousgal, the 2-1 favorite in the field of eight, finished a half-length ahead of a stubborn Rock and Glory. Maker Or Breaker, the 5-2 second choice who was making just her second start on turf after winning two dirt sprint stakes here recently, broke slowly and was no factor, finishing seventh.

Lady Rosberg ran the distance in 1:35.19 and paid $18. The winner’s share of $21,049 gives here earnings of $54,097 from four wins in nine starts.

Storm Powers takes Cluer Memorial

Storm Power, trying grass for the first time, flourished on the new footing, easily capturing the $35,000 Walter R. Cluer Memorial at a mile on turf Saturday.

Owned by Mercedes Stables LLC and trained by Robertino Diodoro, the 4-year-old gelded son of Tiz Wonderful bided his time early as Midnight Officer, Az Ridge, and Uncle Dave volleyed up front through a brisk pace. He moved closer turning for home under Geovanni Franco and came with his run into the lane to grab the lead before edging clear to win by 1 3/4 lengths as the 9-5 favorite.

Fast Track rallied for second, and Red Zeus rallied for third in the field of eight. There was one crucial scratch – Southern California raider Number Five.

Storm Power paid $5.80 and finished in 1:34.53. The winner’s share of $21,049 gives him earnings of $107,488 from three wins in nine starts.
