AUBURN, Wash. – Lady Rosberg made short work of five challengers Sunday in the $65,000 Emerald Distaff Handicap on the Longacres Mile undercard at Emerald Downs. Lady Rosberg enjoyed a three-wide stalking trip, opened a clear lead into the stretch, and kicked away to win by 3 3/4 lengths. She ran 1 1/8 miles in 1:48.68 and paid $2.80. A homebred for Karl Krieg of Oak Harbor, Wash., Lady Rosberg won for the eighth time in 15 starts and pocketed $35,750, increasing her lifetime earnings to $170,022. She was ridden by Gallyn Mitchel for trainer Tom Wenzel. Sarahline, trained by Jerry Holldendorfer, was a non-threatening second, a half-length in front of Madam Pele – a half-sister to Longacres Mile hero Stryker Phd. Alli Leight finished fourth, followed by Among the Stars and Our Little Hen. Lady Rosberg’s sire, Rosberg, and dam Enter Laughing, are both deceased. Lady Rosberg, a 5-year-old mare, was part of Rosberg’s final crop.
