OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Lady Mine figures to get the wet track on which she performs best in Sunday’s $100,000 Biogio’s Rose Stakes at Aqueduct, but her ability to get the one-mile distance is what is at question in the race for New York-bred females. Lady Mine has won her last three starts over a wet surface, and the track figures to still be wet after an expected 1-2 inches of rain on Saturday. The New York Racing Association canceled the Saturday card on Thursday afternoon in anticipation of the inclement weather. The entire eight-race Saturday card will be brought back on Sunday. Entries for Sundays scheduled card were not taken. Those races in condition book will be brought back as extras for the upcoming race week.  Lady Mine, a daughter of First Samurai, is 5 for 12 – with wins in four of her last five starts – but all five wins have come at six furlongs or shorter. She is 0 for 3 at seven furlongs and has yet to try a mile. “When we claimed her, and after we started training her, I thought she looked more like a horse that would handle distance,” said trainer Jeremiah Englehart, who claimed Lady Mine for $30,000 on April 29. “In her recent starts, she has done well sprinting. I thought this was worth a shot right now. Hopefully, there’s a little bit of speed in the race where we can sit back and let her do her thing.” :: Bet the races with a $200 First Deposit Match + FREE All Access PPs! Join DRF Bets. When asked about the prospects of a wet track, Englehart said, “That would definitely be an added bonus. I definitely do think she moves up.” Dylan Davis, 3 for 3 on Lady Mine, rides her from post 5. Bon Adieu is another who has flourished since being claimed for $30,000. In this case, the filly was taken by Rudy Rodriguez last September. After two second-place finishes, Bon Adieu has reeled off three straight wins, each at the mile distance and each in front-running fashion. One of those wins came in the slop. “Not too many horses that want to go the distance and when you got a horse that goes the distance you got to take advantage of it,” Rodriguez said. Luis Rivera Jr. rides from post 6. Security Code, like Lady Mine, is another trying a distance at which she’s rarely run. Security Code has won two straight races, including the Broadway Stakes going seven furlongs last out. Trainer Phil Serpe said the next sprint stakes for New York-bred females isn’t until the Dancin Renee on June 23 and he didn’t want to wait that long to run. Jose Lezcano rides Security Code from the rail. Venti Valentine was beaten just a neck by Security Code in the Broadway. She is four-time winner at this distance, including the Johnstone Mile last summer at Saratoga and the Bay Ridge over a muddy Aqueduct track in December 2022. Manny Franco rides Venti Valentine from post 7 in his eight-horse field. Bustin Bay is entered to run nine days after she won an allowance going a mile for her 12th career victory. Kendrick Carmouche rides the 6-year-old mare for Linda Rice. Sweetest Princess, Sweet Mystery, and Stonewall Star complete the field. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
