Lady Giacamo remains perfect

Mary Rampellini|Jun 05, 2010

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - Lady Giacamo might be headed to Del Mar later this summer after she improved her record to 3 for 3 on Saturday with a 1 3/4-length win over Fastation in the $66,090 fillies division of the Texas Thoroughbred Association Sales Futurity at Lone Star Park.

Trainer Allen Milligan said plans are to freshen Lady Giacamo and that she could return to action in August in the Grade 3, $150,000 Sorrento for 2-year-old fillies at 6 1/2 furlongs at Del Mar.

"We'll give her a little time off right now," he said.

Lady Giacamo has won her three starts by a combined margin of 11 3/4 lengths, starting with a maiden special weight score at Lone Star on May 8. She then won her trial for the Sales Futurity on May 20. In the finale, Lady Giacamo ($3.60) showed good speed, leading the field through an opening quarter in 22.20 seconds. She then rebuffed Fastation in the stretch, and went on to cover five furlongs in 59.77 seconds.

Martin Escobar was aboard for JRita Young Thoroughbreds.

Lady Giacamo was one of two daughters of Giacomo in the field. Blushing Sis finished third, three-quarters of a length behind Fastation.

Aces N Kings also remained perfect in three career starts Saturday, when he drove to a half-length win over Tamtastic in the $60,280 colts and geldings division of the TTA Sales Futurity.

Aces N Kings ($3.60) settled in about two lengths behind the pace set by Gloucester and Valid Promise, then overtook those rivals in the stretch. He covered five furlongs in 1:00.09, and was ridden to victory by Eguard Tejera.

Bob Young trains Aces N Kings for Caroline Dodwell and said the horse would be considered for a start in the $50,000 Minstrel at five furlongs on turf at Louisiana Downs on July 3.

"[But] he's had three outs, so we might just give him a rest," Young said.

Aces N Kings is a son of Jet Phone.
